PRESS RELEASE JANUARY 2010

NEWS FROM LLANDOVERY THEATRE

LLANDOVERY THEATRE COMPANY had a splendid and happy pantomime this year: Dick Whittington. Very happy we say, because we managed to avoid all the horrid weather which hit us over Christmas and caused some considerable havoc in the theatre, with burst pipes. At this point, let me say thankyou to our neighbours and friends in Stone Street, who saw the icycles hanging from the roof of the theatre, and telephoned us to tell us!

During the past 2009 we have had some wonderful and successful shows, including Aladdin, which involved actors from Coleg Elidyr; In Praise of Love, - a programme of poetry, songs with the Summer Singers,  and scenes on marriage and love; and Dick Whittington, which rehearsed from September, and involved children and community actors of all  abilities and disabilities.
We also hosted Crime Writing Workshops with Sally Spedding, and her 'writers' have come from as far away as Llanelli and Cardiff to seek her guidance; and our first poetry workshop was a delight. If you are interested in writing poetry, we plan to have our next poetry workshop: Saturday February 6th at 2.30 p.m. We will be looking at writing a 'love poem' or Valentine. If you would like to join us, email or phone and let us know.
Poetry workshop fees: £10.

At the first session of Creative Writing Workshops: Poetry for Poets, six writers combined their creative skills, contributing one line to each of six poems on the painting by Simon Barnes: Portrait of Marie.   Here is one of the poems they wrote:
                                  The house is watching me
Though hidden in the mists of time
                                  Expecting guests, waiting
A table is set fit for a king
Where are they all - these people?
They are here, yet only the visioned can see them.

If you are interested in Creative Writing or Poetry Writing, call or email us, to book your place.

A very happy 2010 to all theatre friends and lovers.
