Taming of the Shrew

The History so far

LTC first produced The Taming of the Shrew on

stage at Llandovery Theatre in 2002, and so

excited were we by the response from young

people, that we decided to make a film.  We

wanted to reach a wide audience, to get it into

every primary and secondary school in the UK,

to spread the word to young people that

Shakespeare was  exciting, and good fun.

This was to be a full length feature film: children acting for children.

We produced a screen play, and began training workshops, and

casting sessions.  After a year of workshops, we were filming, and

everything going well, when in September 2003, Simon

(co-director) was struck with cancer.

Wonderful support came from everywhere, and following an

operation, Simon was back at the Theatre by April 2004.  It

was with renewed energy and affection for our wonderful

young company that we restarted filming, and by April 05, had

completed the filming, and work on editing was in full swing.

December, 2006.

The editing and final cut of the film is ongoing.  There

is much work ahead.  With Simon's death in October, the loss

of our co-director is devastating, but the film is all 'in the can;'

now we have to put it together, and show it - to honour him.

The film will be premiered at Llandovery Theatre, and then

issued as a DVD. We welcome interest and enquiries.
