The Shakespeare Film Project.

The Taming of the Shrew - A video film.

An exploration into Shakespeare, with children acting for children.

The actors are children and young people, ages 8 - 18, who work alongside professional artists and directors.

The Llandovery Theatre Youth Actors, as they have become known, are already very highly praised.  After a recent stage performance of

The Taming of the Shrew, Richard Booth (Booth Bookshops) the 'king' of Hay on Wye, spoke to the audience - he described the actors
as 'the youngest Shakespare company in the country, and the most exciting!'

Our Supporters

Support for drama and literacy workshops has come from the Arts Council of Wales, the Carmarthen County Council, the Rotary club of Llandovery, Conchango plc, the Roald Dahl Foundation, and the Margaret Dobson Further Education Trust.

The Roald Dahl Foundation were the initial sponsors for literacy and drama workshops in 1996, they helped up to develop this dream.

'The work you have undertaken with these young people is extremely commendable and extremely valuable to the community.' - Tom Davies, The Prince's Trust Cymru.

'Similar to the Elizabethan children's acting companies, the Llandovery Theatre Company has never under-estimated the talents and gifts that young people possess.  They have enabled and encouraged them to grow, thrive and delight in performance, and this over a period of many years' - Marwin Jones Evans, Head of Faculty of Creative & Performing Arts, Tregib.

Llandovery Theatre Company welcomes interest and support for its work.   If you have enquiries and would like further details of our work and plans, please contact us.
